Summer 1

Posted: Mar 24, 2018 by: S.carroll on: Class 5 Blog

Once again, I do not know where the time goes; I cannot believe we are nearly at Easter.

Last week, the children thoroughly enjoyed the trip to Danbury Outdoors.  It was a great day and the weather was kind to us.  Many children overcame their fears to complete some of the challenges, and I was very proud of them, it showed grit and determination.

Don’t forget to come to our entrepreneurial event straight after school on Wednesday 28th.  The children have been busy making bookmarks and chocolate filled bunnies to sell.  We reinvested some of our Christmas profit to purchase supplies to hopefully increase our pot.  Mr C is making bread pudding (famous amongst the school staff) and the profit from bread pudding sales will go towards the year 6 leavers trip.

During The next half term, year 6 will be preparing for their KS2 SATs.  This will mean that the main focus in English and Maths will be revision and test technique.

SAT’s week timetable, commencing on Monday 14th May

Monday 14th –                   English grammar and spelling paper 1

English grammar and spelling paper 2

Tuesday 15th                       English reading

Wednesday 16th               Mathematics Paper 1: Arithmetic

                                                Mathematics Paper 2: Reasoning

Thursday 17th                     Mathematics Paper 2: Reasoning

Friday 18th                           Relax and celebrate.

A tennis coach is coming in for the term to teach tennis and swimming commences after the May bank holiday.  This year swimming will only be for children unable to swim 25 metres in KS2.

In DT we will be finishing the working fairground rides that the children have already started.

We will study Monet and impressionism in art and in RE we will be looking at stories from Christianity.

Year 6 will continue with revision for their homework and year will carry on as normal.
