Spring Term 2016 - Ancient Egyptians

I hope everyone had a good Christmas and happy new year. The children should be rested and ready to return to school this week.

We will be starting our Egyptian topic which will see the children learning about many aspects of this ancient civilisation up to Egypt today. There is a trip to the British Museum, London, including a workshop on mummification.

We will be learning about the Egyptians, running parallel with Classes 4 and 5. To suit the needs of the children in my class I will planning my lessons from a variety of resources. Therefore, below, I have linked to two medium term plans and I have the facility to choose from either plan.

I am excited to be tailoring the curriculum to suit the children and having visited the British Museum before, I know the trip will be fascinating for all involved.

Merry Christmas

admin on: Class 3 Blog

Although it was the last day today the children had fun writing a modern version of the Christmas story which they then illustrated and brought home. If anyone has misplaced their story here it is.

The Angel Gabriel Snapchatted to Mary and told her she was going to have a baby called Jesus. The baby would be God’s son.

Mary and Joseph had to travel to Hollywood to complete the register.

They travelled by jet skis.

There was no room at the 5 star spa hotel so they had to stay in a campervan.

At the same time, an angel appeared to Mr and Mrs Claus and Rudolph the Red nose reindeer. The angel told them that the son of God had been born in Hollywood. Baby Jesus was born in the campervan.

Mr and Mrs Claus and Rudolph flew to Hollywood in a VIP jet following their sat nav to visit the baby Jesus.

Far away in the East, James Bond, Donald Trump and Ed Sheeran saw a poster behind them while they were taking a selfie. They knew it meant that a new king had been born and followed Google Maps.

They reached Hollywood. They gave Jesus gifts of an I-phone X, Apple Mac laptop and a cuddly Santa toy.

From all the adults in Class 3 we would like to say a big thank you for all your support over this term and we hope you have a Happy Christmas and a Merry New Year.

Moz the Monster

Class 3 giggled and 'arrrrr' their way through the John Lewis Christmas advert. They then spent time creating, drawing and creating their monster and thought about what type of adventure they could go on together. They wrote they wrote their stories which were handed into John Lewis in Chelmsford.

It was a great delight and surprise to the children when they received the following letter.

Thank you

Oh what a week!

Our Fabric Faces and Genius Time saw your children very busy.

They have stuck, sewed, safety pinned, painted, mixed, created and baked to their hearts content. all ending in fantastic creations which they are all rightly very proud of, as no doubt you are too.

The children have worked independently and I can see the problem solving skills and resilience growing in all of them.

As we come to the end of this term I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your support and send a message to your children.

I am extremely proud of their hard work and perseverance over this last term and long may it continue into the new year.
