Rhubarb

admin on: Class 1 Blog

Today the children have picked some rhubarb from the garden, washed it, chopped it and cooked it. Most of the children were happy to have a little taste but some enjoyed more. They had it with some plain yogurt. We have lots of lovely discussions about the texture, colour and taste.

The children have enjoyed learning and talking about different types of beans this week. Charlie brought in a tin of salad beans and we added other ingredients to make a lovely snack.

The Odd Eggs

admin on: Class 1 Blog

This week the children really enjoyed creating their own odd egg. They started with a plain white polystyrene egg and used marbling ink to play with colour to cover it. There were lots of wows and excited chatter as they watched what they could make the ink do. We will definitely be using this medium again.

Yoga

admin on: Class 1 Blog

We had our first full yoga lesson yesterday. Lots of the children responded really well to it and were able to focus enough to make some strong, controlled moves. Some children found the slow, calm pace difficult. We will persevere and plan to have weekly lessons up to February half term. Yoga gives the children important down time, a chance to concentrate on how their body works and responds.
